Faculty of Management Studies, MRIU: Where Experiential Learning is a way of life

At MRIU’s Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), the scope for a Management graduate is unparalleled with doors opening to various industry and business sector prospects. Owing to the degree’s multi-dimensional and multi-tasking nature, MRIU’s FMS Programs offer students the ability to transform adversities into opportunities and display resilience and fortitude in the midst of challenges.
FMS aims at being the bedrock for leadership and initiative where students are pushed beyond their comfort zones and constantly challenged to think beyond boundaries. The emphasis at the Department is on innovation, creating and honing analytic skills and focusing upon the practical and applied aspects of theoretical knowledge. FMS lays tremendous stress on the inculcation of ethics and values and good governance skills among the students. Social responsibility and community service form an integral part of the FMS culture on the premise that holistic development should be the goal of business schools rather than creating islets and silos of knowledge in various fields. Students learn through experiential methods like live field projects, workshops, action research, simulations, prototyping, role-playing scenarios, socio-drama/psychodrama, drama, dance, meditation, global immersions, and case studies, seminars, industry interface, guest lectures and mentoring.
FMS has courses that include Master of Business Administration (2 Years) with specialization in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, International Business, Media Management, Business Analytics (in collaboration with IBM), Event Management, Education System Management, Energy Management, Sustainable Development, Disaster Management, Agri Business Management, Sports Management, NGO Management & Operations, Public Policy Management, Societal & Community Service Management, MBA-Health care Management (in collaboration with Fortis),   and PhD in Management. 
In terms of Ranking, FMS has been ranked consistently among the best Business Schools in Delhi-NCR. It has also been ranked ‘A’ category by the All Indian Management Association (AIMA).
To ensure all students complete their respective academic programs with flying colours, FMS provides rigorous training with emphasis on subject knowledge, as well as soft skills. In fact, a course has specially been designed for honing the skills related to management of self, working in teams, and understanding others. Appropriately named as Structured Training for Enhancing Personal and Professional Employability Skills (STEPPES), this program is divided into four parts, and is delivered by industry experts to the students in all semesters of the course.
The pedagogy at FMS focuses on skills development and this is achieved through distinguished faculty members with rich corporate and academic experience, 4 tier mentoring program (peers/industry/faculty/alumni), academic affiliations, international student exchange programs, mandatory corporate social responsibility, extensive life skills classes and industry partnerships. Incidentally, FMS is one of the first institutes to boast of a Human Lab, the first lab in the entire Haryana and Delhi-NCR.
Over the years, FMS students have got plum job offers at KPMG, Genpact, HT Media, Infoedge, Times Business Solutions, HDFC Bank, Just Dial, CISCO, Bank of America, JBM India to mention a few. FMS has maintained a healthy placement track record of 90% plus since 2011, when the first batch graduated.
The Department has been active in the area of social responsibility with initiatives like Anti-cracker rally; Ek Mutthi Daan (A movement where no one sleeps hungry); Shram daan; Adoption of Mohna village transforming students’ lives; incorporation of a skill & health development centre at Village Mohna. The Department runs an entrepreneurship cell – UDYAM (E- Cell) to pursue the rewarding path of entrepreneurship. The department also has a month long Orientation Program ‘Udaan’ to welcome students into the new phase of their life through skilltraining and development workshops.
