The history of Physiotherapy can be traced back to the age of Hippocrates. In those times the principles of Physiotherapy were used to cure various physical ailments. In India also it was practiced widely, in the olden times.

 

Physical therapy concentrates on the psychological, physical, emotional and social well being of a person. Apart from curing various ailments related to joints and bones, the treatment aims to develop, restore and maintain maximum movement and functional ability. Physical therapists have ample job prospects in Hospitals, Nursing homes, Residential homes, Rehabilitation centers, Private offices such as Private practices or Private clinics, etc. Additionally, a person with qualification in physiotherapy can work at Out-patient clinics, Community health care centers or Primary health care centers, Fitness centers or Health clubs, Occupational health centers, Special schools and Senior citizen centers, etc. Notwithstanding, job prospects for physiotherapists are bright in various sports centers, teaching, working in foreign countries with companies, N.G.Os, etc.

A career in physiotherapy has a very wide scope outside India as well. A physiotherapist is in great demand in the international environment. One has the option to either stay in India or go abroad after starting their career in the field.

The Faculty Of Allied Sciences (FAS) in Manav Rachna International University is recognized by The Indian Association of Physiotherapists and The Delhi Council for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, The department  offers a graduate and post graduate degrees in Physiotherapy. Bachelor in Physiotherapy is 4 year full time course with 8 semesters and 6 months internship. Masters in Physiotherapy is a 2 year full time course with 4 semesters and practical training.

The Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS) is a leading organisation engaged in promoting communication, interaction, and cooperation among Asian exercise and sports science professionals and students in educational, scientific and research institutions.
